A lone worker alarm gives you peace of mind

Feeling safe at work should be a basic right, free from worry about your personal security or wellbeing. Unfortunately, that isn't the reality for everyone, and to some extent it comes down to the nature of the job. All too often, it's society's everyday heroes who face the greatest risks.

Some people have chosen professions that carry inherent risk — working at heights, in confined spaces underground, or in healthcare settings where service users and patients can sometimes behave in a threatening manner. These environments typically have a strong safety culture and clear procedures for handling any incidents that may arise.

Then there are those with perfectly ordinary jobs who occasionally find themselves in a vulnerable situation. These moments are rare, and really it comes down to a feeling of security. Imagine always having a button within reach to press if you feel threatened — one that doesn't need to alert the police or an ambulance, but is simply there for your own peace of mind, alerting your colleagues for example. And what if that support could live in something you already carry with you everywhere — like your phone? If something were ever to happen, even just once, to even one person, you'd already be prepared.

Several of our customers have set up their own small alarm response teams. This doesn't mean the alert always goes through to emergency services or that it's treated as a life-threatening situation. The response team is right there in the workplace — perhaps your line manager and your safety representative, or simply a colleague. You decide what makes sense for your own situation. Some have a colleague who walks into the room and suggests a coffee break when the alarm is triggered — an extra person can often de-escalate a situation quickly. Others receive a call on their mobile from a trusted colleague when things get tense. It's not about catching criminals or removing people from the premises. It's about the reassurance of knowing you're not alone at work. That someone is just one button press away — whether from a Crystal Button, your phone, or your keyboard.
