Growing number of schools interested in lockdown alarms as part of their security strategy

The demand for digital solutions to improve safety in schools is growing. We naturally look to the US, where a number of serious incidents in schools have created widespread insecurity — but a few years ago, it actually happened here in Trollhättan, when a 21-year-old masked man attacked two students who tragically lost their lives.

A considerably less dramatic incident occurred a couple of years ago at Matteusskolan in central Stockholm, when a former student returned to their old school and behaved in a threatening manner. Young children were locked inside classrooms for several hours while waiting for the police to arrive.

It is becoming increasingly common for school staff to receive training on how to handle these types of incidents. With Crystal Alarm as a support tool, staff can quickly alert the nearest colleague or manager. The app also includes support for so-called Lockdown procedures, meaning the alarm centre can ensure that neither information nor people leave the building.
